TLDSB Students Participate in Think of Me Road Safety Campaign

When you visit your local LCBO this season, you might notice a few decorated bags. TLDSB students from 19 different schools took part in decorating paper bags for to promote the #ThinkofMe campaign.

Hundreds of paper bags were decorated by students in grades 4 – 8 from Trillium Lakelands District School Board as well as students from Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland, and Clarington Catholic District School Board with positive messages about the prevention of drinking and driving.

The different designs were then judged by a panel of four OPP Constables, three City of Kawartha Lakes Police Officers, TLDSB Trustees David Morrison and Colleen Wilcox, TLDSB Director Larry Hope, and a few very helpful co-op students. Winners were chosen from each school and their designs were selected to be put on paper bags at LCBO locations. All of the bags are being used, the students whose bags were chosen as best in design will receive small gifts for their creativity and messaging.

Did you know that crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs are the leading criminal cause of death in Canada. On average, approximately four people are killed each day in crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs. You can do your part this holiday season by not drinking and driving. Let everyone have a happy holiday this year.

Special thanks is dedicated to MADD Canada for their contribution to this project.
