TLDSB students attend WE Day 2019

On September 19, elementary schools across the Board attended WE Day 2019 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Founded by Craig and Marc Kielburger, WE Day is a movement that brings thousands of youth, teachers, and families together to empower, educate, and celebrate young people changing the world. This year’s theme was “superheros”, encouraging young people to stick up for what’s right and make an impact within their school.

Throughout the day, students heard from a number of speakers and performers, including Rupi Kaur, Nav Bhatia, Reina Foster, David Suzuki, Jenna Ortega, and Emilio Estevez. Topics included mental health, bullying, body positivity and self love, the power of social media, Indigenous culture, the importance of protecting our planet, and coming together as a community in times of need.
