On April 3, 2018, TLDSB hosted the annual Intermediate Math Olympics. This event brought 16 schools, 18 teams, and 72 intermediate students together, from Honey Harbour to JD Hodgson, to compete in math challenges. The winning team advances to compete in the Provincial Math Olympiad hosted by OAME.
Teams participated in Pairs Challenges, Individual Challenges, a Coding Challenge, an FNMI inspired Challenge, and a Team Relay Challenge. Participants worked on Ken Ken puzzles throughout the day, adding sought after points for their team’s final score.
“The organizing team is extremely excited that JDH will be representing TLDSB this year at Sheridan College on June 9, 2018 to compete in the Provincial Math Olympiad, where they will compete against grade 7 and 8 students from across Ontario,” says Kelli Gates, Math Curriculum Consultant for TLDSB. “We will be cheering on our team from Haliburton!”
