Storytelling at Jack Callaghan PS

On Friday, April 4, 2014, students at Jack Callaghan Public School in Omemee listened to stories told by two Canadian storytellers, Bonnie Logan of Saskatchewan and Mary Fearon of Newfoundland.

Bonnie began storytelling in 1985 while touring with the Saskatchewan Heritage Travelling Show and has been telling stories ever since. She tells folktales, cantefables, and literary and original stories with a touch of humour and storytelling.

Mary has been telling stories since 1997 and has performed at a variety of festivals, schools, and workshops in Newfoundland, Labrador, and Australia. Her interest in storytelling stems from her Newfoundland heritage, and inspired her to co-develop a collection of rhymes, songs, and language games with Newfoundland and Labrador flare.

This opportunity was made possible through the help of the TLDSB Program Enhancement Fund to promote the art of storytelling.
