Special Olympics brings PALS students together for a day of friendly competition

The 14th annual Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Special Olympics Track and Field took place on May 29 at IE Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS).

The event brought elementary students from across the board currently enrolled in the Practical Academics and Life Skills (PALS) program together for a day of friendly competition and physical activity. It was also an opportunity for PALS students to meet TLDSB secondary students and staff, who were volunteering at the event.

Competitions taking place throughout the day included the 50 metre long jump, javillian, vertical jump, 4×100 relay, a mascot race, and a wheelchair obstacle course.

To wrap up the event, IEWSS students and staff joined the athletes on the track to cheer them on as they walked their final lap. Everyone had a great time and was a winner!
