From May 27 to 28th, 2015, over 100 TLDSB students attended the Social Inclusion Leadership and Team-Building Summit at Kinark Outdoor Centre. Each school within TLDSB was invited to send a pair of students and a staff member to attend the summit and participate in some exciting outdoor activities.
This is the first year for this event and it was a very successful opportunity. The summit aims to promote and cultivate critical thinking about social inclusion, as well as support and inspire new social inclusion opportunities through interactive leadership and team-building activities.
Students had the opportunity to do team-building and leadership cultivating activities such as Rock Wall Climbing, Ropes Catwalk, Archery, Scavenger Hunt (GPS-style and Traditional Style), “Minute to Win It” Games (Eggstraveganza, etc.), Arts and Crafts, and Wii-Games.
Staff had the opportunity to attend facilitated workshop about the benefits and challenges of social inclusion, and successful models and ideas for social inclusion at school.
Thanks to the TLDSB Program Enhancement Fund, there was no cost to attend this summit beyond the cost of transportation to and from the Kinark Outdoor Centre. Lunch was provided as well as dinner and breakfast for those who stayed over. View the photos from the event below!
