Post-Secondary Connections

We've Got You Covered logo

There are many paths a student might take to prepare for and enter into their desired career. Some students may enter directly into the workforce when they complete high school, while others may continue their education through an apprenticeship, college or university program.

Benefit to students

When students see how the learning and opportunities they experience in elementary school directly connect with post-secondary opportunities and experiences, students will be empowered to make informed decisions about their future.

Programs include:

A full-day experiential learning opportunity at Fleming College intended to introduce students to skilled trades and to consider the trades as a viable, rewarding career options. Students work in construction labs to complete at least two build projects.

An exciting full-day on-campus opportunity at Georgian College for Grade 8 students. Students experience hands-on workshops in construction labs, a campus tour, and the chance to interact with college students who lead the day.

A free one hour in-school presentation by Georgian College that delves into what students can expect in high school, including option sheets – an overview of apprenticeship, college and university post-secondary pathways.

Fleming College

A representative from Skills Ontario visits TLDSB Grade 8 classrooms to present on career pathways in the 156 skilled trade occupations in Ontario, and cultivate conversation about how students might pursue these opportunities.
