On February 27, 2014 over 100 parents and community members attended “Meet you at Macaulay” – an event organized by the Macaulay Public School Council. The evening was an interactive affair with information stations setup throughout the school. Some of the stations included: math and literacy resources, cyberbullying, healthy lunch preparation, and active living games and activities. There were even events like Bedtime Stories with Sandy Inkster, Songs with Kate Cavan from Music Together, and DrumFit demonstrations by Macaulay PS students.
Attendees were given a passport to be stamped at each station they visited. Once their passport was full they were entered into a draw for the chance to win a mini e-reader, Boston Pizza gift card, or a popcorn maker.
The Macaulay Public School Parent Council used their parent engagement fund to host the event. All Parent Council’s throughout the Board are given $500 to be used for parent engagement activities such as family nights, information sessions, fun fairs, and volunteer luncheons.
