Letter from the Director of Education to TLDSB families: School Climate Survey

Dear TLDSB,

Your school wants to know how you are doing.

As we focus on creating learning environments that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging, Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is conducting an online School Climate Survey to gain a deeper understanding about each school’s climate directly from the people in our school communities. The survey is for Grade 4 to 12 students, parents/guardians, and all TLDSB staff.

The results of this survey will highlight areas for growth, the supports needed, and the overall climate at each school. The responses will help TLDSB schools make the necessary changes to improve the learning environment and relationships within a school and broader in the school community. A climate survey is required by the Ministry of Education and normally conducted every two years but has been on hold during the pandemic.

There will be three School Climate Surveys unique to each school: one for students in Grades 4 to 12, one for parents/guardians, and one for staff. The participation in the survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous, and will collect information about how our school communities are feeling about student engagement, mental health, school safety, and inclusivity through open-ended question responses.

I hope all of our Grade 4 to 12 students, parents/guardians, and staff complete the survey as it will further assist in fostering safe and inclusive schools.

If you would like more information, please contact your child’s school.
