Lady Mackenzie Public School students benefiting from Food Source pilot program

A pilot project geared towards promoting healthy eating is benefitting students within Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB).

In its sixth week, the Kawartha Lakes Food Source Family Cooking Project has provided 10 families from Lady Mackenzie Public School with the opportunity to learn how to cook delicious foods with awesome ingredients.

The ingredients, which are both fresh and non-perishable, allow the students and their families to make a dinner, light lunch, and dessert together.

It’s proven that eating a nutritious and well-balanced meal not only stimulates learning, but improves the overall quality of life. Through the various programs offered at TLDSB, it is important that all students come to class with a full stomach, mind, and ready to learn.

The pilot project wraps up at the end of May with the hope of providing families the opportunity to try new recipes and promote healthy living.
