April 28 is the day that workers and employers around the world observe the International Day of Mourning for workers killed, injured, or suffered illness in the workplace.
In recognition of this National Day of Mourning, we would typically ask that all Trillium Lakelands District School Board schools and buildings fly their flags at half-mast on April 28. As our schools are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be flying flags at half-mast at the three education centres in Lindsay, Bracebridge, and Minden.
Making our workplaces safe is a high priority for our Board. On April 28 we have an opportunity to renew our commitment to improve health and safety in our workplace.
