 A Message from David

“I am very pleased to be given the chance to serve our community as a trustee for the Trillium Lakelands School Board. I am a firm believer in open communication, collaboration and good old team work. Although this is my first term as a trustee I can already sense that this is a great group of caring, hard-working individuals who are committed to making sure all of our children get the very best education possible. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to call us.”

Background

David and his wife Colleen have five grown children all of whom graduated from TLDSB schools. As parents of five diversely different learners they have experienced a broad range of learning pathways from the PALS classroom to French Immersion and the International Baccalaureate Program. In June 2014, after thirty years of teaching and administering Arts programs in both Newfoundland and Ontario David retired from his position as Head of Performing Arts at I.E. Weldon S.S. Always active in his community, David has been on many non-profit Boards including the Calypso Foundation Works Program, Kawartha Lakes Association for Community Living, the Lindsay Concert Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Lindsay. He has been involved in the creation and development of the Trillium Lakelands Arts Camp, the Cooperative Initiatives in the Performing Arts program and the Lakelands Academy of Music which he runs with his wife Colleen. David was the director of the Lindsay Kinsmen Band from 1998 – 2006 and currently runs the Odyssey Project Music Program which he founded in 2006. He is also the current Chair of the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council.
