LINDSAY – On August 27, 2013, Trillium Lakelands District School Board appended the terms of the Ministry of Education’s Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) to the existing local agreements. Trillium Lakelands DSB has worked with local unions to implement the provisions of the MOUs over the past several months.
The Ministry of Education requested that the MOUs signed since January 23, 2013 between the Government of Ontario and the federations and unions, be appended to existing local agreements. The MOUs address matters such as sick leave, unpaid days off, retirement gratuities, and maternity benefits.
“By appending the provincially-negotiated MOUs to local agreements, TLDSB staff, students, and parents can be assured that the school year gets off to the right start,” stated school board chair, Karen Round.
“We understand this step is important in ensuring our students continue to receive the best possible education,” stated Director of Education, Larry Hope. “We will continue to engage in conversation with our local unions to ensure we are moving forward, together.”
