eLearning

Founded in 1997, the Trillium Lakelands District School Board Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) remains one of Ontario’s premier online eLearning programs. The VLC provides support for students who require access to high quality online instruction independent of location and with some flexibility in terms of class time, however, the school is scheduled in semesters.

In addition, Open School Ontario (OSO) provides self-paced continuous scheduled intake dates learning for Grade 11 and 12 students who require added flexibility.

What courses are offered online?

The VLC course menu is extensive and includes many secondary (Grades 9 to 12) credit courses. Students can apply for a program using the convenient online registration process. Once enrolled, students benefit from a teacher-mediated curriculum supported by live real-time meetings, online student services and a diverse range of clubs. All live meetings are recorded so students who are unable to participate have full access to lesson material.

Open School Ontario offers numerous courses in English, Mathematics and Science for Grade 11 and 12 students.

Visit the official Virtual Learning Centre and Open School Ontario websites or visit your local TLDSB secondary school Guidance Department for more information.
