Does Trillium Lakelands DSB offer online courses?
Absolutely! Founded in 1997, the Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) remains Ontario’s first operational online secondary school. The VLC provides supports for students who require access to high quality online instruction independent of location and with some flexibility in terms of class time. In addition, a pilot program called OpenSchool is underway to provide self-paced continuous intake learning for students who require added flexibility.

What courses are offered online?
The VLC course library is extensive and includes most secondary (Grades 9-12) credit courses. Students can apply for a program using the convenient online registration form. Once enrolled, students benefit from teacher-mediated curriculum supported by live real-time meetings, an online counselling service and electronic libraries. Because the VLC works in partnership with the Ministry of Education’s eLearning Ontario and a consortium of school districts (The Ontario eLearning Consortium), the breadth of course offerings is extensive.
