Student’s in Ms. Gerris’ Grade 12 Foods Class enjoyed hosting a luncheon for special guests on May 13, 2016. Using tablets, students had to compare prices of locally grown products at different grocery stores, and shop for the meal they were going to prepare for staff and trustees. Students enjoyed learning about proper dinner etiquette, how to set a table, and practiced their skills in the kitchen by preparing a three course meal that consisted of salad, bruschetta chicken, garlic mashed potatoes with vegetables, and dessert included heaping mountains of butter tarts, lemon tarts, and pies!

This activity was a great way to connect digital learning with real life experiences and gave students confidence on how to prepare and host an intermediate dinner party.
