What is the International Baccalaureate program?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through inter-cultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners.

How can I become involved in the International Baccalaureate program?

I.E. Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay offers an International Baccalaureate program for Grade 11 and 12 students.

What are the prerequisites for becoming involved in the International Baccalaureate program?

The prerequisite for registering in this program is participation in the Grade 9 and 10 "Power Pack" program.

Is the International Baccalaureate program for everyone?

No. Both the “Power Pack” program and the International Baccalaureate program are for academic level students seeking a challenge.

What are the benefits to participating in the International Baccalaureate program?

Graduates of the IB Program receive a diploma which is internationally recognized. Students graduating from the program are recognized as well-rounded individuals who have met a rigorous challenge at an early age, demonstrating determination, self discipline, and global awareness.
