A new year for Trillium Lakelands District School Board

LINDSAY, ON – For staff and students, the school year begins in September. For trustees of the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, the year begins with their Annual Organizational Meeting in December. It was at this meeting on December 6, 2011 that trustees acclaimed Karen Round as Chair for a second term.

“I am very proud to be part of this school board,” stated Round, “Being Chair of the Board has been an amazing experience and has allowed me to advocate for our students, our Board, and our communities on many levels.”

Elections also took place for the position of Vice Chair. For a second term, Trustee Louise Clodd was elected as the 2012 Vice Chair for the school board. As there was not an immediate Past Chair, nominations were called for this position. Trustee Gary Brohman was acclaimed for the position of Past Chair for 2012.

This group of three will form the board’s Chairs Council which meets regularly with the Director of Education, Larry Hope for discussion and to determine board meeting agendas.

“I am looking forward to working with our 2012 Chairs Council,” said Hope, “I appreciate their dedication to working with all trustees to ensure that student achievement and engagement is at the forefront of all considerations.”

As Chair Round says, “Each and every child is special and welcome, and we work hard to ensure that all individual students are given the tools they need to achieve their potential and be successful We are truly better together in a safe and caring learning community.”
