David Bouchard Brings Inspiring Stories to IE Weldon

LINDSAY, ON – David Bouchard has travelled worldwide sharing his stories and promoting the joy of reading, writing, and music to thousands of children, parents, and educators. On Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 7 pm, Bouchard will be sharing is passion for literacy at IE Weldon Secondary School. All members of the public of any age are invited to attend.

Bouchard is a former teacher and school principal and has written more than 50 books in English, French, and a number of First Nation dialects. He believes that everyone should be encouraged to read – it's a basic human right! For over 12 years, Bouchard has been inspiring and directing people to become readers.

"We are extremely pleased to have David come back to our area," stated Director of Education, Larry Hope, "For those who may have missed his first visit, it's a perfect opportunity for students, parents, and community members to hear traditional stories, listen to wonderful music, and to be immersed in David's passion for literacy." .

The Aboriginal Education initiative began in earnest at Trillium Lakelands District School Board in 2006. Native studies classes have blossomed throughout the board and each school has a "Guiding the Way" welcome sign adorning the front foyer. An annual symposium provides students and staff an opportunity to share experiences, try new crafts and food, and highlight projects completed throughout the school year.

David Bouchard is a sought-after presenter and will provide an entertaining and educational evening.

An Evening with David Bouchard starts at 7 p.m., there is no cost to attend but call 1-888-526-5552 to reserve your seat.
