Over 300 girls in grades 6-8 from various schools across the board arrived at Woodville Elementary School to hear a powerful and inspirational message – Love the Skin You're In. The girls welcomed Brie Mathers, founder of Love the Skin You're In, book author, songwriter, yoga teacher, keynote speaker and eating disorder survivor. Brie presented a multimedia and interactive presentation on eating disorder prevention and healthy alternatives to the negative socio-cultural persuasive messaging that is popular today.
The girls listened intently as Brie shared her story of struggle, pain and ultimate recovery from her eating disorder and were eager to ask questions and participate in interactive discussions. The young girls were all inspired to stand for authenticity and overcome social pressures by honouring their bodies and embracing gratitude.
