How does inclement weather affect my child getting to school?

If buses are cancelled in the morning, they will not run in the afternoon. Any students who are driven to school on a bus cancellation day must be picked up from school.

Please note that cancellations are made by region – Sometimes buses in City of Kawartha Lakes may be cancelled while buses in Muskoka and Haliburton are still running.

Will my child have to go outside during school hours in inclement weather?

Fresh air and outdoor play are very important for child development. Principals survey weather conditions diligently both on the school yard and from up-to-date website information. Decisions to shorten or cancel outdoor play due to inclement weather are at the discretion of the school principal.

How should my child dress for school?

Students should dress each day according to the weather. Especially in the winter months, students should dress warmly, layering indoor clothing. Make sure your child has lined boots, a warm coat and snow pants, hats and mittens or gloves.
