Grade 11 Fashion Studies students at Fenelon Falls Secondary School are making reading fun and fashionable this year.
Grade 1 teacher at Lady Mackenzie Public School, Melissa Neild, approached Fenelon Falls Secondary School teacher, Tracey Shelton, to see if her students would be interested in creating book bags for her class’s reading program. The fashion students at Fenelon Falls Secondary School are always eager to donate their time and expertise to charitable projects – last year they sewed 70 pajama pants and pillowcases for Victoria’s Women’s Shelter in Lindsay. Melissa Neild supplied the fabric, and the fashion students constructed 20 unique book bags, each with a reversible pattern. The grade 1 students were excited to receive their new bags and were eager to start filling them with books.
