On March 2nd, 2015, the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics (COSSA) Curling Competition was held in Stirling, ON. The top four girls and boys team from the Kawartha Region and the Quinte Region competed against one another for the COSSA Curling title. For the second year in a row, the Fenelon Falls Secondary School Girls Curling Team won COSSA Gold. Three of the students, Ashley, Jamie, and Dakota, are returning curlers from last year. Jessica, the team’s skip, is new to the team. Jessica is the only team member that curls competitively outside of school.

The girls have been practising since last November at the Fenelon Falls Curling Club. However, they only began working together in their roles and as a team in January.

“I’m very pleased with how they’ve learned to work together. They deserve all the credit for their success.” said their coach, Sherry Telford.

The FFSS Girls Curling team will be competing  at OFSAA in Brighton, Trenton, and Stirling, Ontario between March 9 and 12. This has been a great accomplishment and we look forward to seeing this team compete against the best high school teams in Ontario next week. Way to go Jamie, Ashely, Jessica and Dakota!
