French Immersion Programming in Gravenhurst 

If sufficient registration numbers are received, Trillium Lakelands District School Board will consider offering a Senior Kindergarten to grade 3 French Immersion program at Gravenhurst Public School beginning September 2018.

Register your child for French Immersion programming at Gravenhurst Public School by November 30, 2017. Programming is dependent on these numbers. Registrations are being accepted for SK, and grades 1, 2, and 3 for the French Immersion program in Gravenhurst.

What You Need to Know

1. If there are a viable number of registrations to run a French Immersion program at Gravenhurst Public School beginning September 2018, transportation will no longer be provided for SK to grade 3 Gravenhurst area students to the French Immersion program at Monck Public School. * Transportation to Monck Public School will continue for Grade 4-8 French Immersion students.

2. A French Immersion program in Gravenhurst will not be considered if there are not a viable number of registrations by November 30, 2017. Your registration submission is your commitment to enrolling your child in the French Immersion programming.

3. The number of registrations will be reviewed and next steps will be determined and shared with trustees at the December 12, 2017 Organizational Meeting of the Board.

No, if a French Immersion program is deemed viable for Gravenhurst Public School, bus transportation will no longer be available for SK to Grade 3 students from the Gravenhurst area to Monck Public School.

Will we permit FI registration for Gravenhurst English stream students currently in SK – 2?

Parents are asked to contact the school principal for advice around a student starting a French Immersion program after grade 1.

Can a Gravenhurst area parent register their child as a new registrant in French Immersion at Monck Public School?

Until November 30th when the Gravenhurst French Immersion registration is taking place, Gravenhurst area parents wishing to register their child in SK – Grade 3 French Immersion must register for the Gravenhurst Public School French Immersion program.
