More than half a million students across Canada will be taking part in the 2015 Federal Election.
The federal election is scheduled for October 19, 2015. This election offers a unique teachable moment to introduce students to democracy and citizenship, and engage youth in the voting process through the Student Vote parallel election program.
Student Vote has had a very positive history of working with elementary and secondary schools in Trillium Lakelands District School Board. On record, the Student Vote election with the greatest participation included 33 schools and 3,343 students from TLDSB.
Schools that register for Student Vote will receive free learning materials such as activity resources, posters, riding maps, ballot boxes, voting screens and official ballots for Student Vote Day. Participating schools may offer Student Vote to a single class or engage the entire student body in learning about our democratic process and casting a Student Vote ballot.
Schools can register now by visiting www.studentvote.ca. As always, the program and non-partisan materials are offered free to schools.
