Seventy-seven teams from across Ontario competed in the 30th annual New Holland Provincial Elementary School Curling Championship last week from March 23 to 26. There were more than 550 curlers from all over the province in competing. Bobcaygeon Public School attended the event for the first time and were extremely proud of their results!
Team Anderson, represented by four Grade 7 students from BPS consisted of Reegan, Emma, Reese, and Savannah. All four of the girls curl with the school club, which is supported by the Bobcaygeon Curling Club volunteers, and three of the girls joined the Bobcaygeon Junior Rockers last year. With three wins and a tie under their belt, they were able to move to the Championship Round which consisted of 20 remaining teams.
The girls played a total of eight games in four days and won the Canada Bread Gaylea Division Championship, just 6 teams short of the overall Championship. The girls were also extremely honoured to win second place prizes in the poster contest. All teams were required to represent their school and community through a student-created poster. BPS and TLDSB is not only proud of the way the girls competed, but of the way they represented their school and the district.
