Trillium Lakelands DSB has nine trustees elected during municipal elections who discuss education issues, approve the budget, and set policies. A Student Trustee is elected by student peers (Group of Seven) to represent the student voice.
What role does the Student Trustee play?
Student representation forms an important basis for Board decisions that affect students. The student representative cannot vote (under subsection 55(3) of the Education Act) but participates at the Board table and/or committee meetings. Student Trustee Procedure
The Student Trustee not only provides student perspectives but also communicates the impact that Board decisions have on students in all TLDSB schools.
