What happens at a Board Meeting?

Trustees gather twice a month for public meetings. At the mid-month meeting trustees gather as the Committee of the Whole. This meeting is usually held the second Tuesday of the month. Trustees discuss many topics of interest to parents and students, receive information, discuss policies and procedures, and  indicate their intent to approve or deny certain motions. The end-of-month meeting is most often held on the final Tuesday of the month. Here, trustees discuss relevant matters and make final binding decisions. The public portion of all regular meetings begins at 6:30 p.m. Agendas for the meetings are available the Friday prior to the meeting.

Can I attend a Board Meeting?

The public is encouraged to attend Committee of the Whole and Regular Meetings of the Board. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. with a private session to discuss in camera items. Public session begins 6:30 p.m. Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are also webcast live through a link on our homepage.

Can I attend a Board Meeting from another location?

Video conference access to all Committee of the Whole and Regular Board meetings is available at the following locations:

Agendas in short and long form are available by the end of the week preceding the meeting in the Tools and Resources Section of this site.

How do I find out what happened at a Board Meeting?

Highlights from the Board Room are available on the Trillium Lakelands DSB website under following most Committee of the Whole and Regular Board meetings.

Within a few days following Regular Meetings of the Board a recorded webcast of the meeting will also be available.

What if I want to make a presentation to the Board?

If you would like to have the opportunity to appear before the Board, a request must be made through the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  The Director will then determine with the Chair of the Board whether or not the presentation is appropriate. If you are invited to make your presentation to the Board, a written application to appear before the Trustees - stating in full the matter on which the submission is to be made  and naming the organization or interested parties to be represented and stating the authority of the spokesperson - must be received in the Director's Office six days prior to the meeting. Only one spokesperson will be allowed for the delegation, regardless of the number of speakers.

Presentations relating to Transportation Issues will be referred to the Transportation Committee. Requests for presentations to the Transportation Committee must be made through the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
